Staff Engineer
Job Description

List of Responsibilities
- Create electronic site models for bids, planning projects, construction layout and guiding GPS Machine Control systems on our heavy equipment, using Trimble Business Center (TBC). These models are critical to the efforts of estimators, engineers, project managers, surveyors and heavy equipment operators.
- Models in Estimating: The primary focus of this position will be during the estimating phase of the project. All our material quantities are generated from the 3D model created inside TBC.
- Quantities need to be calculated consistently with the estimator’s project setup.
- Quantities must be accurate, and inconsistencies with engineers’ quantities need to be reconciled.
- 3D models need to be created to maintain OSHA safe excavation standards.
- 3D models need to be created to illustrate challenging excavations; these need to communicate clearly to the estimator to ensure proper costs are built into the estimate.
Other responsibilities

- Assist with the plan production of Edgerton’s design build projects
- Create realistic 3D renderings for a variety of work (i.e. proposed designs, mass excavation sequences, utility construction) using InfraWorks, SketchUp, or similar software.
- Continuous improvement pursuing the mastery of our CAD software: Trimble Business Center and Civil 3D (Autodesk Architecture Engineering & Construction Collection).

Experience Requirements

Education Requirements
We have openings for individuals with both a bachelors degree in engineering or construction management as well as 2-year technical degrees.

Grading Supervisor
Job Description
Embodies the company culture, SQE and delivers results accordingly. In accordance with the President’s vision, SQE mission and strategic plan, the Grading Supervisor for a given project coordinates with the Project Manager and Field Operations Manager in developing the plan for the work, communicates the plan to the trades people and tracks the progress for a given project/task. Other duties as assigned. This position is a working supervisor role with +/- 5 years of previous experience in grading operations or related work. Reports directly to the Field Operations Manager.
Specific Qualifications
- Proven track record of consistent safe work practices
- Strong leadership skills and leads by example
- Has completed safety training per Edgerton training curriculum
- Plans, communicates and monitors the safe work practices on given projects.
- Assists in developing initial work plan and schedule for the project with the project team
- Communicates the plan with the trades people and updates the plan through the life of the project in conjunction with the general superintendent and project manager
- Plans and communicates the resources for the project with project team to meet schedule and budget
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications
- Runs the daily JHA/Work Plan and stretch and flex meeting with the crews
- Delivers daily field reports, tracks quantities produced and productivity, assists in the preparation of look ahead schedules and takes a leadership role in the safety of the project.

Operating Engineer
Job Description
Operating Engineer embodies the company culture, SQE, and delivers results accordingly. Operating Engineers must be able to control and operate a variety of heavy equipment in a safe and efficient manner. The Operating Engineer must coordinate with the Site Supervisor and site crew members to obtain task goals with Safety, Quality, and Efficiently. Must have the ability to perform general inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment. Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Project Manager
Job Description
Embodies the company culture, SQE and delivers results accordingly. In accordance with the President’s vision, SQE mission and strategic plan, the Project Manager for a given project plans the work, communicates the plan and monitors progress for a given project. The project manager manages costs, schedule and the relationships with the owner/general contractor and related subcontractors to successfully complete a safe project on time and within budget. Reports directly to the Regional – VP
Planning:
- Develops initial work plan and schedule for the project with the project team
- Communicates the plan and updates the plan through the life of the project
- Plans and communicates the resources for the project with project team to meet schedule and budget
Operations:
- Organizes, plans, communicates and monitors the safe work practices on given projects.
- Approves daily field reports, checks quantities produced, prepares look ahead schedules and monitors costs and safety associated with the work.
- Communicates progress with project team on a weekly basis
- Communicates with subcontractors, vendors, and clients during the construction process.
- Communicates with operations manager, general superintendent, crews and upper management during the construction process.
- Assists in the growth of up and coming foreman.
- Mentors younger project managers and project staff, if applicable
- Seeks out and evaluates opportunities to better Edgerton’s position on a given (CRl’s, waste and dump sites, thinking outside the box, etc.)
- Manages risk on the project
Financial:
- Prices and negotiates change orders with the owner/general contractor
- Monitors and communicates the financial standing of projects to upper management
- Performs cost to complete analysis monthly
- Works with accounting on extra work and invoicing the client
- Project closeout quantities and payments
